Welcome!

My name is Ohavyah, and I m 14 years old.  My Dad owns a Drive-thru Coffee shop in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  I like helping him run the shop.  I have been helping him ever since he opened two years ago in 2008. When I first started I washed dishes and measured milk and that was about it, but over the past two years my Dad has taught me how to do more.  First I was allowed to make smoothies and frapés (which are the easiest to make) my Dad also began to let me take orders (which I was nervous to do at first but I got used it).  About six months after we opened my Dad began to teach me how to pull shots on the Espresso machine,  and also how to steam the milk (which is usually the hardest part about the job), he would let me practice steaming the milk with soap water (you put cold water and a drop of soap) and when you steam it it acts like milk (without wasting any milk).  After much practice I have figured out how to steam the milk properly without creating a big foamy, bubbly mess.  If you steam the milk properly you can pour Latté art which I have begun to be able to do.  After two year my Dad trusts me to be able to run the shop just as good as his employees. Sometimes he lets me run the shop by myself when he has to go to Tulsa to pick up more product.

This is a latté I made.  I wasn't able to pour latté art, but I still made it pretty by drizzling chocolate on it.
